Nuclear Safety: S/CI and DI Regulation
Bechtel is committed to effective controls for the prevention, detection, and disposition of Suspect/Counterfeit Items (S/CI) and Defective Items (DI) to mitigate any potential safety threat in the operating complex.
The underlying principle in procurement is that suppliers demonstrate they are capable of delivering items conforming to specified requirements. Suppliers are required to ensure that S/CI and DI are not provided as part of the material or product for delivery under all agreements pertaining to the Vit Plant. It is the supplier's responsibility to provide items free from any suspect/counterfeit or defective conditions.
Review the General Conditions section of a Vit Plant subcontract/purchase order to understand what is required upon discovery of a potential S/CI. If an item exhibits indications of being counterfeit, the vendor should segregate the item using its own Non-Conformance program and notify the Vit Plant Subcontract Administrator or Buyer of the concern. The Vit Plant S/CI Coordinator will evaluate the item in question and respond back to the vendor through the Vit Plant Subcontract Administrator or Buyer.
